Exercise for Arthritis at Adelaide Active

Movement and exercise are tonics for our joints and help relieve the effects of arthritis and rheumatological conditions.  At Adelaide Active Rehab & Therapy we offer a range of solutions that can be tailored to your specific situation.

Quite often the pain of arthritis makes us avoid exercise, but keeping muscles strong by being active can alleviate the pain and stop the rate of deterioration.  That is why exercise is a crucial treatment for your arthritis.

Adelaide Active Rehab & Therapy offers Hydrotherapy as one form of treatment.  This is water-based therapy that has been used for centuries in the management of rheumatological conditions and arthritis.

Our consistent 34°C warm water – in conjunction with water’s natural buoyancy, reduced gravity, and therefore reduced loading on joints – allows people with a wide range of rheumatological conditions to achieve many positive benefits in the hydrotherapy pool.

How Adelaide Active Rehab & Therapy can help you:

Many patients are concerned that physical activity will make their discomfort worse or harm their joints. However, joints are made to move, and inactivity weakens the muscles.  Our therapists will work with you to create a treatment plan, workout routine, and activity schedule that is specific to your requirements.

Our allied health professionals will discuss your current level of activity and any specific issues you are facing and recommend the appropriate pathway forward.

Physiotherapy

The majority of arthritis sufferers benefit greatly from physical therapy as part of their care.

Our physiotherapists assist you in resuming or maintaining an independent, active life at home and at work. They are specialists in analysing movement, and they can also teach you how to take care of your joints.

Our services include land and Water -based Physiotherapy.

Exercise Physiology

Our friendly Exercise Physiologists will tailor your exercise program to your needs, ensuring that you feel comfortable with the exercises and adjusting your program to best suit you.

They can also be with you one on one, or teach you the program for you to work independently in your own time.

Our services include land and Water -based Exercise Physiology.

Aqua Fit Class

If your arthritis is mild to moderate, you may be able to attend our Aqua Fit classes.

Our Aqua Fit classes are supported by our experienced hydrotherapy instructors who can adapt the classes to suit your mobility.
